THE FAMILY IN THE MODERN WORLD:

YOUR HOME AS THE DOMESTIC CHURCH

Saint Pope John Paul II often referred to the family as the domestic Church. This name is so fitting because the family is to be a microcosm of the entire Church containing its various aspects.

In addition, the family is also called to a spiritual harbor – the place of retreat and refuge from our culture which often times undermines and antagonizes the faithful – especially our children.

But what does all of this mean practically for parents? What does it entail? Why is this important?

In this presentation, parents will discover three profound dimensions of family life and three simple steps they can take as they begin to form their family into the domestic Church.

You Can’t Inspire Without The Fire!

Parents are called to be the primary educators of their children in matters of faith. Saint Pope John Paul II calls parents the first heralds and first witnesses to their children.

It’s a challenging call for sure and for many reasons parents can easily feel insecure, ill-equipped or even unaware of their primary responsibility.

One of the most highly influential ways parents can transmit the faith to their children is through their own personal faith. But to be effective, that faith must be fully alive and active. That’s the work of grace, the Holy Spirit and a simple plan for spiritual growth.

In this presentation parents will discover how to acquire the fire of faith using a simple, four-step plan which will equip them to become the first herald and witness that their children so desperately need.

It’s All About The Relationship

Did you know that the level of attendance at Mass by Catholic young people is directly correlated with their certainty that it is possible to have a personal relationship with God? But do you know that only 48% believe in a God with whom you can have a personal relationship? No wonder so many young people view the faith as irrelevant, impersonal and impertinent. A ‘mass exodus’ is the result.

In this presentation, Joe will address this reality with parents and inspire them with what Saint John Paul II has to say on this topic as well as practical wisdom on what they can do to bring faith alive in their home…the “domestic Church.”

From ‘Bland & Bored’ to ‘Salt & Light’
(Saint Pope John Paul II’s call to ‘Encounter’)

Sometimes it’s easy to feel or think that one of the beatitudes was ‘blessed be the bland and bored.’ But in his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus proclaims that “You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world.”

This seems to point to the fact that there is a place for excitement and passion in the life of a Catholic Christian. How does one get there? Is there a “process” or “step by step” progression to becoming light and salt?

Come discover what Saint Pope John Paul II means when he is calling the Catholic Faithful to ‘Encounter’ and how to become fully “human and more than human” as you open your heart to the process.

This presentation is customized for Parents, Confirmation Students and…for a Parent-Family Night.
